Bhandara is a unique food distribution tradition. During Bhandara, Prasad (proper food) is distributed to each and everybody taking part in the celebration.

Description

Bhandara is a unique food distribution tradition. During Bhandara, Prasad (proper food) is distributed to each and everybody taking part in the celebration. Prasad is a gracious gift. Anything, usually edible, that is first offered to a deity and then distributed to devotees. The food is cooked on a large scale and is first offered to Lord Vishnu in a temple and is then served to 150 brahmins (all members of only Brahmin family).

The food comprises of 2 vegetables dish, butter rotis, one sweet dish and namkeen. Donation in the form of cash is also distributed.
