Description

Pradosh means the dusk of the early night or evening tide. This katha is observed in the evening twilight, and so it is called Pradosh katha. It is observed on the 13th day of each lunar fortnight. It is practiced to propitiate Lord Shiva, in order to obtain his blessings and boons leading to fulfillment of one’s cherished desired and spiritual upliftment. Those who practice it with unflinching faith and devotion are bound to possess wealth, health, happiness.

It is believed that LORD “PARAMESHWARA” does the ANANDA THANDAVAM (cosmic dance) during this period and to witness this dance all the shiva ganas including the Devi, Ganesha,And Subramanya are ever present on this occasion. While Lord Shiva does Rudra Thandavam and other types also, this particular Ananda Thandavam is very beneficial to remove the “PAKSHA DOSHA” (all the sins committed before 15 days and hence the word pradosha) of all devotees.
