Description

The recitation of Ganapati Atharvashirsa is the most powerful puja for Akhand Sobhgaya Lakshmi (irrevocable fortune, success and wealth) and for accomplishment of Riddhi-Siddhi (prosperity and opulence). This puja bestows wonderful results when performed specially during Ganesh Chaturthi (Lord Ganesha descends on the earth on Ganesh Chaturthi to stay with His devotees for the course for ten days). Ganesh festival days are: 29th August till 8th September.

Shri Ganapati Atharvashirsha was written by Atharva Rishi. The Atharvashirsha is the definitive text on Ganesha. It pays homage to Him as the Supreme Deity, one who subsumes all other divinities. He is the Holy Trinity who cyclically creates, sustains and destroys the universe. He embodies within Him the five elements, the past, present and future and all celestial bodies. Importantly, the text contains the bija or ‘seed mantra’ of Ganesha – Gam – and teaches how to use the mantra appropriately and worship Ganesha. Ganesha’s attributes – His tusk, multiple arms, belly and weaponry are beautifully defined. Studying this text helps the worshipper reach the four goal posts of life – Dharma (doing the right thing), Artha (material prosperity), Kama (enjoyment of sensual pleasures) and finally, Moksha (liberation of the soul).

Worship process: Abhishek juice is extracted from Green and White grass (durva). The Ganesha idol is made from the roots of Madar tree. This root is taken out in Pushya Nakshatra. Then pran pratistha (infusing life) is done and Lord Ganesha is formed out of it.

Puja service includes: Sthapana (Ganesh, Devi, Navgraha Kalash, Brahma), invocation of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, invocation of Ishtadevata (Lord Narayan), invocation of Ganesh Pariwar (Shubh-Laabh, Riddhi-Siddhi), Ganesh yantra Puja, Abhishek of Lord Ganesha, Aarti, Pushpaanjali.
